EasyLedger v2.1.0 is now available, and it's one of our biggest updates yet — though most of it happens quietly under the hood. Instead of flashy new buttons, this release focuses on the three things that matter most in accounting software: accuracy, security, and reliability. Your books are more precise, your sensitive data is better protected, and the whole app is more dependable. Here's what changed.
Stronger security and privacy
We've significantly hardened how EasyLedger protects your information:
- Encrypted credentials. If you've connected Stripe or email, those secret keys and passwords are now encrypted on your computer using your operating system's secure keystore — no longer stored in plain text.
- Safer backups and restores. Restoring a backup now verifies the file is a genuine EasyLedger database first, and automatically creates a safety backup before it changes anything.
- Tougher against bad data. EasyLedger now safely handles any characters you type into names, notes, and descriptions, so nothing unexpected can slip through.
Your financial data has always lived on your own computer — now it's guarded even more carefully.
More accurate books and tax tracking
Accuracy is everything in accounting, so a big part of this release went into making sure every number is right:
- More reliable year-end close. Closing out a year is now more accurate and handles more scenarios, so your opening balances always carry over correctly.
- Closed-period protection. Once a year is closed, entries dated in that period are locked — standard accounting practice that keeps your finalized books from changing unexpectedly.
- Consistent balances everywhere. Account balances now calculate the same way across the dashboard, the accounts page, and every report — no more differences between screens.
- Better tax tracking. Tax rates, attribution, and totals are more accurate, and duplicate tax-rate names are prevented so your collected tax always adds up.
- Corrected reports. Reports and CSV exports now show the correct amount paid on every invoice.
Recurring invoices also got a tune-up, so they always use each customer's current details and record tax correctly.
More dependable, day to day
Beyond accuracy, we made the app more robust:
- All-or-nothing saves. Payments, transfers, and reconciliations now save completely or not at all — no half-finished records if something goes wrong.
- Delete protection. You can no longer accidentally delete a customer or vendor that's tied to existing invoices or expenses — EasyLedger warns you instead.
- Smoother online payments. When a customer pays an invoice online through Stripe, they now land on a proper confirmation page.
- A range of stability and polish fixes throughout the app.

How to Update
If you already have EasyLedger installed, you don't need to download anything — the app updates itself. EasyLedger checks for updates automatically and downloads the new version in the background. When it's ready, you'll see a prompt asking whether you want to install it: choose Restart Now to update right away, or Later to keep working and have the update install the next time you close the app. Your data stays exactly where it is.
